Shower with no single-use plastic

Go Plastic Free in your Shower

Posted on July 16, 2019July 16, 2019

Your shower can be free of single-use plastic bottles typically used to hold shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. Check out this 2-minute video for a demonstration.

I started making my own natural soap, shampoo bars, and vinegar last year to reduce the trash I was creating. It seemed like a total waste to be going through so many plastic bottles. Along the way, I discovered I could create my own products that were superior in quality and free from artificial ingredients, dyes, fragrances, or preservatives. Once my body became acclimated to these products, I was able to see and feel noticeable differences. My hair feels fuller and my skin feels and looks clearer. You can get the same benefits too!

As I started to incorporate my own, homemade products into the shower, I slowly noticed the plastic bottles disappearing as they were used up. Now, I have a bottle for the vinegar and another container to hold razor blades, but that is it. Maybe, I will work on the shaving part next. I can make a blade last a rather long time.

If you are looking to make a difference with how you treat your skin and to reduce the plastic bottles you throw in the trash, try soap and shampoo bars! I am also a huge advocate of using organic vinegar in place of conditioner. It does wonders for your hair follicle while balancing the pH of your scalp. I will never use conditioner again.

All of these products are available for purchase from natural food stores, farm markets, or from your very own Aspiring Steward. Wherever you get them, I am sure you will never want to go back to the mass-produced soaps that come in a bottle. Your body will love it and the planet will appreciate your choice, too!

I guarantee any hair you have will be fuller. Growing new hair is a different story.
