Searching for Diamonds

Posted on June 11, 2024June 11, 2024

Key Points

  • I’ve had quite a few ideas get started but never get published
  • This summer, I’m looking for ideas ready for a second chance
  • I hope to find diamonds, but I am sure there’s plenty of coal in there too

Over my time creating this site, I’ve scribbled down ideas to come back to later and complete. On some, I got stuck on how to get started. While with others, I finished 95% of the idea, but I could not get it to completion. Either way, I never finished my thoughts. All of these articles ended up together in draft purgatory. Lost amongst the coals of a dying fire.

I’ve decided to take time this summer to write. The best place to begin, in my mind, was where I left off. I’m going to sort through the thoughts and sentences to see what I can finish. I figure time and separation have to give me new ideas to finish my old sentences. Picking up the pieces will, I hope, be a challenging and rewarding place to get started.

Hunting Diamonds

My favorite part of sports league drafts is looking for a steal in the later rounds. Turning a cast-off into a success story creates a great deal of pride and satisfaction. In my draft here, none of these ideas are lottery picks*. They are ideas that have issues, but perhaps, with the right development, we can overcome those issues. We’ll see together. I can promise you I will give it the best opportunity and let the chips fall where they will. I’ll let you decide which ones may be diamonds and which ones should have stayed in the vault.

*Most of my stuff doesn’t hit this level tbh 🙂 That said, this is one I think is better than most
