Ponder & Provoke

When I had kids, I was adamant about helping them to develop the ability to think. Education encourages kids to memorize concepts and to repeat and accept what they are taught. Questions slow down the process.  Being contradictory forces us to look at the facets of a situation with skepticism.  These elements never show up on the test. Likewise, society prefers things to fit into categories, niches and cliques.  You don’t have to agree as long as you stay in your lane.

Get Out of Your Lane

Signs exist for us to recognize and evaluate.  I have heard that April Fools Day is the day people are the most likely to question what they are told or they see in the media.  Every day should be an see the signs pushing you to think, research and learn.  You will definitely learn something about yourself.  Plus, you may even learn enough to initiate a conversation to explore the topic further.  How about that?  Perhaps, you can get to something more exciting than traffic and weather.

Recognize and Reflect

My aim is to provide you with ideas and fodder to prompt the thinking process.     I will encourage you to look at things more critically and recognize when things require more thought.  The rest is up to you.  I can tell you this:  Life is more interesting and satisfying when we look at it with wonder, just as food is more interesting if you taste it.  Bon appetit!

God endowed us with a brain that allows us to meet our daily needs like food, water, and shelter. In addition, our brain is capable of expanding our horizons. Let’s take time to think about and ponder those horizons in order to reach beyond them.
